2009 LAUNCH EVENT
July 26th 2009 - we are closing Leamington Spa Parade (thats the main shopping street) for an extraordinary cycles event. This marks the start of Phase Two of our 2012 Cultural Olympiad project.

OPEN UP LIGHT UP
Extraordinary Cycles is an innovative light, sound
and projection performance featuring International
award winning Flatland BMX rider and stunt cycle group.
The project achieves 'INSPIRE MARK' status, one of only three in the West Midlands to be awarded.

The event will launch Coventry Transport Museum’s and
Hybrid Art’s 2012 initiative. A four year celebration of cycling
and cycle production. An ‘ideas forum’ will inform development
of the project leading to exhibitions, events, workshops and
further performances around Coventry & Warwickshire.

R&D project ends - watch clips with Flatlander Keelan Phillips and Dancer Junior Cunningham here
Phase Two begins.
September 2008
We have secured Arts Council funding to undertake research and development for
the 'Extraordinary Cycle Dance' - Tim Ellis will devise new music for bicycles,
in part generated by the cycle and rider - Junior Cunningham will work with
Tim and Keelan to develop a language of choreography for FlatLand BMXing and
cycling in general.
The outcome of the work will be presented in December 2008.
July 2008
Partnership formed with Coventry Transport Museum. Extraordinary
Cycles is born. This is a four year project to celebrate cycling
and cycle manufacturing through exhibitions, workshops and performances.
June 2008
Cycle Dance proposal succeeds in achieving 'Flagship
Project of the Cultural Olympiad' which includes 'kickstart'
funding.
